Herbal Tinctures

1 oz AMBER BOTTLE/DROPPER CAP (except where noted)herbal tinctures
An extract / tincture is a concentrate that results when crude herb is mixed with a suitable solvent, such as alcohol and/or water. Of the different herbal forms, extracts are generally the most effective because their active ingredients are more highly concentrated. Extracts also have longer shelf lives than other herbal preparations. Fresh herbal extracts retain almost all of their plants original benefits. When administered sublingually (drops are placed under the tongue), herbal extracts can be absorbed by the body very quickly. This is an especially effective way for older adults and people with absorption problems to use herbs. We like extracts because there is a percentage of people that do not like the large amounts of alcohol, or cannot have it. Tinctures (larger amount of alcohol) can preserve herbs that are insoluble or only partially soluble in water. It is very simple process to remove the alcohol for use. Place the recommended dosage in 1/2 cup of hot water, boil 1 minute, let cool and drink.
